Dr. Aladdin Badawi

Consultant in Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgery Ph.D. in General Surgery and Oncology. Member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES).

Dr. Alaa Badawi is a pioneer in gastrointestinal and endoscopic surgery in Egypt. His Ph.D. thesis was ranked among one of the best in the field of gastrointestinal and endoscopic surgeries. Additionally, Dr. Alaa Badawi has a substantial record of research contributions presented and discussed at major international scientific conferences related to endoscopic surgeries.

Dr. Alaa Badawi became a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) in 2012, due to his development of a new surgical technique in the field of bariatric surgery, which he presented and discussed at the SAGES conference in California 2012. This society is one of the most prestigious scientific associations, encompassing more than 6,000 surgeons worldwide. Afterwards in 2018 he presented certain techniques in the laparoscopic field, where he got IFSO membership (International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity & metabolic surgery).

One of the notable surgical techniques Dr. Alaa has adopted is the “Modified Gastric Plication.” Research results have shown that this surgical technique is effective in weight loss and has high safety rates compared to other surgical obesity modalities. Therefore, Dr. Alaa Badawi is among the first doctors in Egypt to perform the modified gastric plication, relying on his extensive laparoscopic experience and skills.
